# Contently help centre --- > Guides, steps, tips and common questions for the Contently Figma plugin, in full. Landing page: https://raiken.io/kb/contently --- # AI Assistant, Vision Reviews & Layer Renaming > Use Contently's AI for multimodal design feedback, layer renaming from image contents, copy brainstorming, and component-aware layout builds. ## Goal Accelerate design reviews, copywriting iterations, and layer organization using multimodal AI models. ## Before you start - A configured AI provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq, or a local LM Studio / Ollama server). - Frames or layers selected in Figma. ## Steps 1. **Select frames and open UX Feedback** Select one or more frames on the canvas, then click the eye button (UX Feedback) in the sidebar. The sparkle button opens the AI view for writing and image generation; design feedback runs in UX Feedback. ![UX Feedback: five past reviews with score rings (69 to 88), an attached card screenshot, a typed question, eye tooltip.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide/ux-feedback.png) 2. **Choose your review lenses** In AI Settings → Vision, switch on the lenses you want: Visual Design, UX & Psychology, Brand Communication, Accessibility, Personas & Needs, or Creative Ideas. ![AI Settings, Vision tab: lens cards such as Visual Design and UX & Psychology, each with a switched-on toggle.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide/ai-settings-vision-top.png) ![The Vision tab scrolled down: Brand Communication, Accessibility, Personas & Needs and Creative Ideas, all switched on.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide/ai-settings-vision-more.png) 3. **Add context or reference attachments** Optionally click the + button and choose Screenshot selection, Upload image, or Upload file (brand guidelines or a brief). You can also paste an image straight into the text box. ![The + menu above the prompt box lists Screenshot selection, Upload image and Upload file; past reviews sit above it.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide/ux-feedback-attach-menu.png) 4. **Run feedback or trigger actions** Submit your prompt for instant feedback, or right-click layer groups and choose '✨ Layer rename' to let AI rename layers based on visual content. The result view shows an Overall Score and a Render to Figma button. ![A feedback result: an Overall Score of 80%, a Render to Figma button, and Close and Insights buttons.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide/ux-feedback-result.png) ## Tips - Use 'Match Image' layer renaming before applying Smart Templates so layer names align with image template collections automatically. - Prefix internal scratch components with an underscore (_) to keep AI generation focused on production components. ## Result Structured markdown recommendations appear in the AI panel, or layers are renamed from what their images show. ## If something goes wrong - **AI model fails to recognize an attached screenshot.** -> Use a model that supports vision (Groq models cannot take images in Contently). In AI Settings → API Key, click Test & Detect Capabilities and check that Vision analysis is ticked. ## Common questions ### How do I get AI feedback on my designs? Select one or more frames you want feedback on and click the eye button (UX Feedback) in the sidebar. Leave the prompt empty for a general review, or add a specific ask (e.g. 'focus on hierarchy and spacing'). In AI Settings → Vision, choose what to analyze. Run the analysis and iterate from the results panel. ### What do the Vision categories mean? Visual Design covers layout, spacing, typography, and color usage. UX & Psychology reviews clarity, affordances, cognitive load, and user flow. Brand Communication evaluates alignment with tone and visual identity. Accessibility highlights contrast, sizing, and inclusive design hints. Personas & Needs sketches who the design is for and what they need, from your Document Context or the design itself. Creative Ideas explores alternative directions and quick experiments. ### Can I attach a file or image to an AI request? Yes. Click the + button next to the text box and choose Screenshot selection, Upload image, or Upload file. Images can be PNG, JPEG, WebP or any other image type your browser reads (up to 4 per message; Contently shrinks them to 2048 px). Text files can be TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JS or TS. You can also paste images directly into the text box. ### What is Smart Intent in the Brainstorm panel? Smart Intent is the default mode in the Brainstorm panel. As you type, the AI reads your message and automatically picks the most suitable skill for it. You can click the active skill chip anytime to browse skills manually or return to Smart Intent. ### How do I rename layers with AI? Right-click a group header and choose ✨ Layer rename. For image groups choose 'Match Image' to rename layers from what the image depicts, 'Description' for descriptive names, or 'Tag Style' for short Title Case tags (up to 8, e.g. 'Mountain Sunset Hiking'). Other groups offer layout naming styles instead: Design System, Slash Paths, BEM, or Code Names. ### Which AI model should I pick? Leave it on 'Auto (best balance)' for a model that balances quality and cost. To pin one, pick a specific model from the model list in AI Settings → API Key. ### A model disappeared from the list, or my model stopped working? AI providers retire older models regularly. Contently checks against your provider once a day and refreshes the list, falling back to the closest equivalent model. Click 'Check for new models' in AI Settings → API Key → Advanced options to refresh immediately. ### How should I set up components so the AI builds with them? Add a short sentence in the component description field explaining its purpose. Name components clearly (e.g., Button, Checkbox, Card). Expose real component properties (text, boolean, variant) rather than deeply nested unlinked text. Prefix scratch components with '_' (or '.') to exclude them. ### When should I add Document Context? Add Document Context (AI Settings → Context) when the AI needs stable background information such as target audience, copy tone of voice, product principles, or technical constraints. It is saved in your Figma file, per document (up to 8,000 characters), and applied across requests. ### Does AI feedback certify accessibility? No. AI feedback provides suggestions and highlights potential issues. It does not replace verifying contrast ratios against WCAG requirements or testing with real assistive technology. ## Related guides - [Local AI Setup (LM Studio, Ollama), CORS & Troubleshooting](https://raiken.io/kb/contently/local-ai-and-troubleshooting): Run open-weights vision and text models on your own hardware via LM Studio or Ollama, so AI requests go to your own machine instead of a cloud AI provider. - [Smart Templates: Automatic Layer Matching](https://raiken.io/kb/contently/smart-templates-overview): Smart Templates automatically match template data to the right layers based on layer names, letting you populate entire mockups and nested components in one click. --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/contently/ai-assistant-guide (Contently help centre).
