# Create your first sticky note with Notely

> Open Notely, pick a color, create a note on the canvas and edit its text.

## Goal

Put a note on the Figma canvas and edit its text without leaving the file.

## Before you start

- Notely installed in Figma.
- A Figma file open for editing.

## Steps

1. **Open Notely** Run Notely from the Plugins menu, or open Figma Quick Actions, type notely and select Open.
2. **Choose a color** Click the palette button next to Create Note to choose the color for new notes. The presets are Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, White and Rainbow.
3. **Create the note** Click Create Note. Notely adds the note to the canvas and lists it in the plugin window.
4. **Write and format** Type your text in the note editor. The toolbar has bold, italic and underline, and a button that cycles through list styles.
5. **Change the color later** In the editor, click another color swatch. For your own color, open the small arrow on the Custom swatch and choose Pick custom color…. Reset to default sets that custom swatch back to its default color.

## Tips

- Create notes without opening the plugin window: choose Write Note in Figma Quick Actions.

## Result

A note sits on your canvas in the color you picked and appears in the Notely list.

## If something goes wrong

- **A note shakes when I double-click it and does not open.** -> Notes of the vision feedback type cannot be edited. Create a regular note with Create Note instead.
