# Filter, group and export your notes

> Find notes with the filter bar, group and sort the list, select a note on the canvas, and export your notes as CSV.

## Goal

Find the notes you need in a busy file and hand them off as a CSV.

## Before you start

- A file with several Notely notes.

## Steps

1. **Filter by text** Type in the Filter Notes bar. Notely shows the notes whose title or content contains your text.
2. **Open the filter menu** Click the Filter notes button. Switch on Show only active page to hide notes from other pages, or Show only AI notes to see only AI notes.
3. **Group and sort** In the same menu choose Group by (page, creation date, last change, user or color) and Sort by (Custom, Created, Changed or Color).
4. **Find a note on the canvas** Click a note in the list to select it on the canvas. Double-click it to edit it.
5. **Export to CSV** Open the menu in the plugin footer, choose Import Notes, then Notely Export (CSV). Notely saves a file named notely_export_ followed by the date, with the columns Title, Content, Caption, Color and Emoji.

## Tips

- The filter bar searches each note's title and content. To work by person or color, use Group by user or Group by color.

## Result

Your list shows the notes you need in the order you want, and a CSV of your notes is saved.

## Common questions

### What does the filter bar search?

The title and content of each note. It does not search the author or the color.

### Which columns does the CSV have?
