# QRLY help centre --- > Guides, steps, tips and common questions for QRLY, in full. Landing page: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly --- # Create a QR code for a URL, WiFi, contact or email > Pick a data type in the Generate tab, fill in its fields and watch the preview update as you type. ## Goal Turn a website, a piece of text, a WiFi login, a contact card or an email into a QR code. ## Before you start - QRLY installed in Figma. ## Steps 1. **Open QRLY** Run QRLY from the Plugins menu. The Generate tab opens with https://raiken.io already in the URL field, so you see a sample QR code straight away. 2. **Choose a data type** Under Data Type, click URL, Text, WiFi, vCard or Email. Each one shows its own fields. ![QRLY Generate tab: dot QR code preview, URL selected among five data types, https://raiken.io filled in.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-create-qr-code/generate-url.png) 3. **Fill in the fields** URL: a web address; QRLY adds https:// when you leave it out. Text: any text. WiFi: Network Name (SSID), Password, Security (WPA/WPA2, WEP or Open) and the Hidden switch for a network that does not broadcast its name. vCard: First Name, Last Name, Phone, Email and Company. Email: Email Address, Subject and Message. ![QRLY Generate tab with WiFi selected: Network Name Studio Guest and a password typed in.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-create-qr-code/generate-wifi.png) 4. **Check the preview** The preview at the top redraws a moment after you stop typing. Until the required field is filled, it shows an empty placeholder instead of a code. 5. **Place it** Click Place QR Code at the bottom of the plugin to add the code to your canvas, or open the Style tab to change how it looks first. ## Tips - Switching data types keeps what you typed in the other panels, so you can compare a URL code with an Email code without retyping. - For an open WiFi network, choose Open under Security; QRLY then leaves the password out of the code. ## Result A live QR code preview for your content, ready to style, place on the canvas or export. ## If something goes wrong - **The preview stays empty.** -> Fill in the field each type needs: the network name for WiFi, a first or last name for vCard, the email address for Email. The other fields are optional. - **The Place QR Code button is missing.** -> It only appears when there is something to encode. Enter content for the selected data type and the button comes back. ## Common questions ### Which kinds of QR codes can QRLY create? Five: URL (a web address), Text (any text), WiFi (network name, password and security type), vCard (name, phone, email and company) and Email (address, subject and message). ### What does a WiFi QR code contain? The network name, the security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP or Open), the password unless the network is open, and whether the network is hidden. Phones that support WiFi QR codes can join the network from it. ### What does a vCard QR code contain? A contact card (vCard 3.0) with the first and last name, and the phone, email and company when you fill them in. ### What does an Email QR code do? It holds a mailto: link with the address, and the subject and message when you add them, so scanning it opens a new email in the mail app. ### Do I have to type https:// in front of a URL? No. When a URL does not start with http:// or https://, QRLY adds https:// for you. ## Related guides - [Style a QR code and add a center logo](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-style-and-logo): Choose square, rounded or dot modules, set your colors and error correction, and put your logo in the middle. - [Place a QR code on the canvas or export SVG and PNG](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-place-and-export): Add the code to your design as editable vectors, or download and copy it as SVG or PNG at the size you need. - [Change the language, open the FAQ and replay the welcome tour](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-menu-and-settings): QRLY's main menu holds the language switch, a searchable FAQ, the version notes, a feedback link and the welcome tour. --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-create-qr-code (QRLY help centre). Reviewed: 2026-10-30. --- # Change the language, open the FAQ and replay the welcome tour > QRLY's main menu holds the language switch, a searchable FAQ, the version notes, a feedback link and the welcome tour. ## Goal Find your way around QRLY's main menu: use it in your own language, look up a quick answer and see the tips again. ## Before you start - QRLY open in Figma. ## Steps 1. **Open the main menu** Click the three-dot button in the top bar, next to the Generate, Style and Export tabs (screen readers announce it as Open main menu). Its entries include UI Settings, Info and FAQ & Help. UI Settings and Info open a submenu; Back takes you to the main menu again. ![QRLY main menu open from the three-dot button: UI Settings, Info, FAQ & Help and License.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-menu-and-settings/menu.png) 2. **Change the language** Open UI Settings and pick a language from the Language list. It offers US English, ES Español (España), LA Español (Latinoamérica), FR Français, DE Deutsch, JP 日本語, KR 한국어, BR Português (Brasil) or TR Türkçe. QRLY switches at once, confirms with a message such as 'Language changed to Deutsch' and remembers your choice the next time you open it. ![QRLY UI Settings submenu: Back, Hide Footer and a Language list set to US English.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-menu-and-settings/menu-ui-settings.png) 3. **Search the FAQ** Click FAQ & Help. A Frequently Asked Questions window opens: type in Search FAQs... to filter the questions, or click a topic chip such as basics, style or export to see only those. More shows every topic. Click a question to open its answer. 4. **See the version and send feedback** Open Info. Version & Patch Log shows the QRLY version you are running with a short list of what the plugin does. Feedback opens QRLY's page in the Figma Community in your browser, where you can leave a comment or report a problem. 5. **Replay the welcome tour** Open Info and click Show Onboarding. The tour starts with Welcome to QRLY!, then three tips: Choose Your Data Type, Customize Your Style and Export Options, followed by a Discord invite and a feedback slide. Move through it with Next and Back, the dots or your arrow keys, and close it with Close on the first slide, Finish on the last, or Esc. ## Tips - The welcome tour opens by itself the first time you start QRLY. Show Onboarding brings it back whenever you want the tips again. - Search FAQs... looks through the answers as well as the questions, so a single word such as logo or PNG is usually enough. ## Result QRLY speaks your language, and the FAQ, the version notes and the welcome tour are one click away. ## If something goes wrong - **Some text is still in English after changing the language.** -> The menu, the tabs and most labels in Generate, Style and Export switch language. The welcome tour, the FAQ and the version notes are written in English only. - **A window with the version notes opens when you start QRLY.** -> QRLY shows its version notes once after a larger update. Close it with Esc or the main button at the bottom; Info → Version & Patch Log opens it again later. ## Common questions ### Which languages does QRLY support? Nine: English, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish. Pick one under UI Settings → Language. ### Which language does QRLY start in? The one you last picked. The first time, QRLY tries to match the language of your Figma setup and starts in English when it cannot. ### How do I see the welcome tour again? Open the main menu, go to Info and click Show Onboarding. ### Where do I report a problem or suggest a feature? Open the main menu, go to Info and click Feedback. It opens QRLY's page in the Figma Community. ## Related guides - [Create a QR code for a URL, WiFi, contact or email](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-create-qr-code): Pick a data type in the Generate tab, fill in its fields and watch the preview update as you type. - [My QR code does not scan](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-qr-code-not-scanning): Go back towards the defaults one setting at a time: logo, error correction, colors, quiet zone and background. --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-menu-and-settings (QRLY help centre). Reviewed: 2026-10-30. --- # Place a QR code on the canvas or export SVG and PNG > Add the code to your design as editable vectors, or download and copy it as SVG or PNG at the size you need. ## Goal Get your QR code into a Figma design, or out of Figma as a file. ## Before you start - A QR code in the Generate tab (see Create a QR code). ## Steps 1. **Place it on the canvas** Click Place QR Code at the bottom of the plugin. QRLY adds the code as vectors, 256 × 256 px, in the middle of your view, then selects it and zooms to it. Its layer name starts with QR: followed by the start of its content. 2. **Open the Export tab for a file** Click Export at the top of the plugin. Like Style, it widens a window narrower than 720 px. 3. **Choose a format** Under Export Format, pick SVG (vector, scalable; the default) or PNG (raster image). ![QRLY Export tab: SVG and PNG format cards, Export Size 512px with presets, Download and Copy buttons.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-place-and-export/export.png) 4. **Set the size** Drag the Export Size slider from 128 to 2048 px in steps of 128, or click a preset: 256px, 512px (the default), 1024px or 2048px. 5. **Download or copy** Click Download QR Code to save the file, named qrcode- followed by a number. Or click Copy SVG to Clipboard: with SVG selected it copies the SVG code, with PNG selected it copies a PNG image. ## Tips - With a logo, the placed code is a group of the QR code and a separate layer named Logo, so you can move, swap or delete the logo in Figma. - Pick SVG for print and anything you scale later, and PNG where only an image will do. ## Result An editable QR code in your design, or an SVG or PNG file with your style and logo. ## If something goes wrong - **Download QR Code and Copy SVG to Clipboard are greyed out.** -> There is no QR code yet. Fill in the fields for your data type in the Generate tab and the buttons switch on. - **The placed code is not the size I set in the Export tab.** -> Export Size only applies to downloads and copies. Place QR Code always adds the code at 256 × 256 px; scale it on the canvas, where it stays sharp because it is made of vectors. ## Common questions ### Is the placed QR code editable? Yes. QRLY builds it from SVG, so it arrives as vector layers you can recolor and scale without losing sharpness. A logo comes in as its own layer named Logo, grouped with the code. ### Which export formats are there? SVG and PNG, from 128 to 2048 px. Both include your colors, shape and logo. ### Does a transparent background carry over? Yes. With Transparent background on in the Style tab, the placed code, the SVG and the PNG all leave out the background. ### Where does the placed code go? To the middle of what you are looking at on the current page. QRLY selects it and zooms to it so you can move it into place. ## Related guides - [Create a QR code for a URL, WiFi, contact or email](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-create-qr-code): Pick a data type in the Generate tab, fill in its fields and watch the preview update as you type. - [Style a QR code and add a center logo](https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-style-and-logo): Choose square, rounded or dot modules, set your colors and error correction, and put your logo in the middle. --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-place-and-export (QRLY help centre). Reviewed: 2026-10-30. --- # My QR code does not scan > Go back towards the defaults one setting at a time: logo, error correction, colors, quiet zone and background. ## Goal Find the style setting that stops a phone from reading your QR code, and fix it. ## Before you start - A QR code styled in QRLY. - A phone camera or QR scanner app to test with. ## Steps 1. **Raise error correction with a logo** A logo covers modules in the middle of the code. In the Style tab, set Error Correction to High (30%); QRLY does not raise it for you when you add a logo. 2. **Make the logo smaller** Move the Logo Size slider down from 7×7 to 5×5 or 3×3 modules, or remove the logo with × to see whether it is the cause. 3. **Check the contrast** Most scanners expect a dark code on a light background. Make the Foreground clearly darker than the Background; QRLY uses whatever colors you set and does not check their contrast. 4. **Bring back the quiet zone** Turn off No quiet zone (margin) so the code keeps its empty border of two modules. Without it, a scanner can struggle to find the code's edges. 5. **Look at the background** With Transparent background on, the code shows whatever is behind it. On a dark or busy surface, turn it off or place the code on a plain light shape. 6. **Test the shape last** If it still does not scan, switch Module Shape to Square, or lower Dot Spacing for Dots, then test again. ## Tips - Change one setting at a time and scan after each change, so you know which one made the difference. - Scan the placed code at the size it will really be used, not only at full zoom in Figma. ## Result A QR code a phone reads, with as much of your styling as it allows. ## If something goes wrong - **The code got denser after I added text.** -> A QR code grows with its content and its error correction level. Shorten the content, for example a shorter URL, to get bigger modules at the same size. - **A WiFi code scans but the phone does not join.** -> Check that Network Name (SSID), Password and Security match the network exactly, and turn on Hidden only for a network that does not broadcast its name. ## Common questions ### Will a styled QR code always scan? Not always. Logos, low contrast, missing margins and very wide dot spacing all make a code harder to read, so test every styled code with a phone before you publish it. ### Which settings are the safest? QRLY's defaults with Square modules: a black code on white, Medium error correction, the quiet zone on and no logo. With a logo, use High error correction. --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-qr-code-not-scanning (QRLY help centre). Reviewed: 2026-10-30. --- # Style a QR code and add a center logo > Choose square, rounded or dot modules, set your colors and error correction, and put your logo in the middle. ## Goal Make a QR code match your brand while it stays scannable. ## Before you start - A QR code in the Generate tab (see Create a QR code). ## Steps 1. **Open the Style tab** Click Style at the top of the plugin. If the window is narrower than 720 px, QRLY widens it so the preview and the settings fit side by side; going back to Generate restores your size. 2. **Pick a module shape** Under Module Shape, choose Square, Rounded or Dots (the default). Rounded adds a Corner Radius slider (0 to 50%), Dots adds a Dot Spacing slider (0 to 40%, 10% by default). With Rounded or Dots, the three corner squares are drawn with rounded corners too. ![QRLY Style tab: Rounded shape, Corner Radius 30%, a dark blue rounded QR code on a pale blue background.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-style-and-logo/style-shape.png) 3. **Set the colors** Under Colors, set Foreground (black by default) and Background (white by default) with the color picker, or type a six-digit hex value such as #1A1A1A. 4. **Choose error correction** Under Error Correction, pick Low (7%), Medium (15%, the default), Quartile (25%) or High (30%). A higher level lets more of the code be covered and still read, at the cost of a denser pattern. 5. **Add a center logo** Under Center Logo, click Click to add logo and choose a PNG, JPG or SVG file. QRLY clears the modules behind the logo, and an SVG logo takes on the foreground color. Use the Logo Size slider to choose 3×3, 5×5 (the default) or 7×7 modules, and the × button to remove the logo. ![QRLY Style tab: purple code on a pale violet background, High error correction, a bolt logo at 5×5 in the center.](https://raiken.io/assets/kb/qrly/qrly-style-and-logo/style-logo.png) 6. **Set the export options** Under Export Options, turn on Transparent background to drop the background, or No quiet zone (margin) to remove the empty border of two modules around the code. Both apply when you place and when you export. ## Tips - Set Error Correction to High before you add a logo. QRLY recommends it, but it does not change the level for you. - Start with the smallest logo size that still reads, and test the code with a phone before you hand it off. ## Result A styled QR code, shown in the preview on every tab, ready to place on the canvas or export. ## If something goes wrong - **The Corner Radius or Dot Spacing slider is missing.** -> Each belongs to one shape: Corner Radius appears with Rounded, Dot Spacing with Dots. Square has neither. - **My SVG logo turned a single color.** -> QRLY recolors the fills and strokes of an SVG logo to the foreground color so it matches the code. To keep a logo's own colors, use a PNG or JPG instead. ## Common questions ### Which logo files can I use? PNG, JPG and SVG. An SVG logo is recolored to the foreground color; a PNG or JPG keeps its own colors. ### How big is the logo? Its size is measured in QR modules: 3×3, 5×5 or 7×7, set with the Logo Size slider. The modules under the logo are left out, so the logo never sits on top of the pattern. ### What is error correction? Extra data that lets a scanner read a QR code even when part of it is covered or damaged. QRLY offers Low (7%), Medium (15%), Quartile (25%) and High (30%); the percentage is roughly how much of the code can be lost. ### What is the quiet zone? The empty border around a QR code that helps a scanner find it. QRLY keeps a border two modules wide unless you turn on No quiet zone (margin). --- Source: https://raiken.io/kb/qrly/qrly-style-and-logo (QRLY help centre).
